One-Liner

12/2010
Owen & I were reading Twas the Night Before Christmas (because Christmas is tomorrow according to the munchkin) & he saw Santa and said, "Mom, I am going to eat his nose." I laughed and asked why. He said,"Cuz it looks like a grape. Mom, isn't that just like a grape?"

Glow Sticks!

I saw this as an unpublished post. I have no idea when it was or how to rotate the photo but...here you go!
I saw this on Pinterest and wanted to give it a try. I grabbed 2 tubes of glow bracelets in the $1 section of Target and let them go. They had a great time!
Time keeps on slipping, slipping, slipping, into the future.

My days are filled with trips to and from the kids' schools, volunteering, cleaning house, taking care of pet (currently 2 dogs, 6 fish, 3 frogs), talking with friends, and making plans. I feel like there is so much I want to remember about these times but I can't pick a medium and stick with it. I had this blog, I did scrapbooking, I have a couple of apps, and Facebook but...there isn't one spot where historians will be able to look to find an accurate account of this life. Maybe I need to come back here...let the words flow faster and more generously than scrapbooking and facebook allow. I wish there was a way to print these pages...to put in a scrap book!!!! Hahahahaha!

Anyway, it is 10:07pm. 3 little boys are sleeping (after one pre-sleep daydream by Owen about Charlie dying that made him sob). Eddie is closing up curtains and locking doors and putting the final touches on his Dad's birthday card. The dishwasher is running...making a plink-plunk sound on a dish or two. The breeze coming in the window is perfect after today's heat...as long as our silent neighbors don't light up. The ceiling fan is on but has been unbalanced since we moved in so it rythmically goes tong-tong-tong-tong. :) Tomorrow will be another crazy day filled with park excursions, to-do lists, music, and giggles..dappled with exhaustion and daydreams of naps. :)

I am very grateful for this life.

Flat Stanley Takes Us Out

My nephew's 2nd grade class is doing this awesome project where they send out Flat Stanley paper dolls to family members and then we take him around and take photos with him. It is a great idea and has motivated us to get out and see the sights in a city people spend thousands of dollars to visit.

So, today, Wednesday, we made it special. I started (after wishing Grammy and Grandpa a safe journey home) by having lunch at Gillespie Field with Owen & Cam. The food was super tasty and we had fun watching the planes and asking the passengers where they were going.

Since it was a normal half-day, after school I packed up the kids (ours plus Gavin), snacks, drinks and Flat Stanley, and headed to Balboa Park. It was a great day!! We went to the Model Railroad Museum, walked around the park, fished Cameron's newly stamped penny from the wishing pond, climbed trees, played hide-and-seek, chased a peacock, pet a Great Dane, sang on the stage of the Spreckles Organ Pavilion and enjoyed the PERFECT weather.

It was a beautiful day...truly!

Hiking Mission Trails

We had a day off over President's Day weekend and we decided to take a hike! We smelled flowers, collected rocks and spent a gerat time down by the San Diego River! I told the kids I only wanted their feet to get wet but, well...we all know how that turns out. :) Gavin was the first to fall in and the rest soon followed.

Halloween 2011!

Hello Fam & Friends!

How are you? I can't believe Halloween has come and gone already! How did that happen? I have to say that this Fall has been ridiculously busy and filled with challenged that are completely abnormal. Still, Halloween comes like a tornado into our home...a fun, fabulous, exciting, perfect holiday! Owen picked his costume in about 2 minutes on our first trip to Party City. $10!?! Deal! Sold! Let's go! Cam's costume was a given because the boy is obsessed with the original Disney's Peter Pan movie. He looked soooooo stinkin adorable! Sawyer originally wanted to be a monkey super hero that threw banana bombs but...he changed his mind and became Wolverine! He looked great!

On Saturday, the 29th, Gage Elementary threw a great Fall Carnival. We had so much fun!

Then, the big day came. We started the evening with mummy pizza at our good friend, Darina's home. Then, after a whirlwind of photos...we headed for the best street in our neighborhood for lots of spooky sights and sounds....but great candy! It was perfect! The parents even got some treats...in the form of mixed drinks and jello shots! Woo-hoo!

Busy, busy, busy!

So, as most of you know, Sawyer finished 1st grade this past June and the end of the year was filled with activities and fun times with friends.

On June 8th, Gage Elementary had an awesome Field Day! It was a wonderfully chaotic scene filled with tug-o-war, obstacle courses, 'hockey,' parachute races, basketball, hula hooping, etc. The PE teacher, Mrs. Elrod, had an amazing playlist of upbeat music blaring over the fields and the energy was palpable.

June 9th was Owen's last day of preschool at at Gage. We had a special party for his class sponsored by the Gage PTA. Turns out that the preschool class raised more money during the Walk/Jog-a-thon last year than the entire 5th grade class!
